AI Overview: The book titled Die Ernte aus acht Jahrhunderten deutscher Lyrik (The Harvest from Eight Centuries of German Lyric Poetry), compiled by Will Vesper and published in 1909, is an expansive anthology, and while it doesn't list every author on the cover, it features a "who's who" of German literary history from the Middle Ages to the early 20th century.
Key poets typically included in this collection are:
•Johann Wolfgang von Goethe: The central figure of German literature.
•Friedrich Schiller: Goethe's contemporary and a key figure in Weimar Classicism.
•Heinrich Heine: Known for his lyric poetry and wit.
•Friedrich Hölderlin: Famous for his complex lyrical style.
•Rainer Maria Rilke: A major figure in modern German poetry.
•Annette von Droste-Hülshoff: One of the most important German female poets.
•Walther von der Vogelweide: Representing the early "eight centuries" with medieval Minnesang.
•Eduard Mörike: A key poet of the Biedermeier period.
The collection was designed as a "standard" overview for German readers of the era, curated by Will Vesper and often featuring decorative art by Käte Vesper-Waentig.
