Synopsis: Chapter 1 What You Need To Build an IBM Compatible Computer

You can easily assemble your own PC-XT or PC-AT computer that will be faster, more powerful and have more functions than the best configured IBM Personal Computer. And you can do it for about half the cost of an equivalent IBM computer.
If you are not familiar with the innards of a computer you may be afraid to tackle a job like this. There are many engineers who know a lot about electronics, but have had very little experience with the insides of computers, so some of them hesitate to build their own.

But I assure you that you won't need to know anything at all about electronics and you won't have to do any wiring or soldering. The only tools you will need are a pair of pliers and a couple of screwdrivers. It takes just two or three hours to mount the main components into the case. Then just plug in the cables and boards and you can save up to $3000.00 or even more over the cost of an equivalent IBM PC-XT or AT.

Your computer will look very much like the IBM except that it won't have the IBM logo. In addition to costing less, your computer could have more functions and capabilities than the highest priced IBM-PC XT or PC-AT.

Overall Condition: Gently read book with trivial wear to boards.

Secure shipping bubble-wrapped in a new box/mailer.
